Performance Location: Waverly and clay, Northeast corner

– Typically seen as just “colorful character,” a bit foolish & overly litigious, but a feminist reading of Ah Toy’s appearances on the public record shows that her life as a prostitute & madam was a life of resisting patriarchal injustice.:
–1850 sued several customers for each (fake gold dust)
– 1851 awakened four square blocks of Chinatown chasing w/ gong & wrestling down a customer who stole a pin from her
– 1852 took lover to court for beating her, demanded an apology

Deciding on Whether to Allow Your Child to Use a Walker
My little one turned 10 months today. He is also showing off another 2 new teeth. He was born a preemie so we have been watching him closely. He also had a few issues coming out. His shoulder got stuck and some nerve endings were damaged for the first month of his life. You would never know now that he had a problem.
My baby is trying his hardest to crawl, he gets up on his knees and rocks but just can’t seem to get the co-ordination between moving arms and knees at the same time yet. It is often hard to figure out when children are going to do certain things. You can read up on all the averages that are recorded, but every child is different. If you try to rush them too much when they are not ready that could end up having adverse effects. I try to help my son by helping him try to move knees and arms, but he just laughs, he is not quite there yet.
The great thing about children and their development though, is one day they could have no clue, and the next day they wake up and you find them racing across the floor. It just comes to them when they are ready, and away they go.
My oldest daughter was walking at 10 months, so her being the oldest I had based my other 2 son’s development on that, which wasn’t fair. My older son started crawling at around 8 or nine months, but didn’t walk until he was 14 months. Now this son is 10 months and scooting around dragging his body with his arms, just not quite getting the knees action yet. He is already standing and wanting to move along couches and coffee table. It may not be too long after he does learn to crawl, that he will walk.
One thing I do know is he will be a dancer! He loves music and gets ticked off if his musical toys run out of batteries or are turned off and won’t make noise. It is pretty funny to watch actually.
I thought about getting a walker, but I was reading up on their safety and I am not so sure it may be a good investment. The following are a few stats I learned from the AAP.
Baby walkers send more than 14,000 children to the hospital every year, and 34 children have died since 1973 because of baby walkers.
The AAP has gone so far as to call for ‘a ban on the manufacture and sale of baby walkers with wheels ‘
Will they help your infant learn to walk sooner?
No. It is generally believed that infant walkers don’t help your kids learn to walk sooner than if they didn’t use a walker. In fact, one study, Effects of baby walkers on motor and mental development in human infants, concluded that ‘walker-experienced infants sat, crawled, and walked later than no-walker controls, and they scored lower on Bayley scales of mental and motor development.’
Now the good majority of the accidents that happen from the use of walkers is not that the walker itself is unsafe, after all there are millions of infant walkers still sold every year, but that the walker allows more freedom for movement to get into things. As long as you properly baby proof your environment, a walker may still be a helpful and fun piece of equipment for your child.
Remember that your child can pull down hot coffee mugs from end tables, kitchen tables with tablecloths, or a desk.
Keep all gates up across stairs.
Make sure all cupboards and shelving units are secure with baby locks, especially those that contain poison substances.
Plug up all electrical outlets.
Pad the corners of you coffee table or any other piece of furniture that will be at baby head level.
Keeping our children safe should be our number one priority. It is important to teach our children as much as we can about all safety. One thing I have found over time is the incredibly small amount of people who have learned the value of foresight as opposed to hindsight. If you teach a child to have foresight, a lot of things may be avoided. Here’s to keeping our children safe and loved!

A cart with frictionless wheels is given an initial push up a tilted track (ramp)
and then allowed to roll freely. The initial velocity is 0.5 m/s and the track is tilted at 10°
to the horizontal how far will the cart go uphill before rolling back down and what is the carts acceleration on the way back down?
